Wastewater Treatment Update Seminar (2 days)
It is essential for all wastewater treatment works operators, supervisors, managers to understand the current requirements of treatment operations, technology, and to regularly update their skills. The NSW Department of Industry (the department) runs other wastewater treatment courses.
Who should attend?
Wastewater treatment works operators, supervisors and managers. Councils should ensure that all treatment works operators attend at least one update seminar every five years.
The seminar provides up to date information on current and emerging wastewater treatment and reuse issues and new technologies for the treatment and disposal of wastewater. The seminar will assist wastewater utilities with current topical treatment issues/aspects and update operator knowledge and skills.
The seminar will involve a site visit, open forum, troubleshooting and workshop sessions, and will cover a range of topics with direct relevance to current treatment operational practice. Recent seminars have, for example included topics on:

- Elevated pH and suspended solids in pond systems
- Microscopic techniques for activated sludge process determination
- Wastewater reuse – an update on approvals – information sheets
- Industry representatives
- Overview of current designs in NSW.
If you would like to include any other topic, please advise accordingly. However, ample opportunity will be provided to ask wastewater treatment related questions in the open forum session.
A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to all participants.
