River health and condition is usually reported, tracked and assessed using existing and recurring data from a range of monitoring programs. The department has developed a number of spatial products such as the NSW River Condition Index, to assist with tracking the long term overall health of rivers within NSW.
NSW River Condition Index
The primary long-term reporting tool for assessing change in riverine condition.
Inputs into the NSW River Condition Index
The River Condition Index is produced using inputs from a range of indicators.
River Condition Index Impact Assessment Tool
The River Condition Index Impact Assessment Tool is designed to predict the impact of aquifer interference activities on river health.
River styles in NSW
The river styles framework is a method of classifying river character and behaviour.
Assessing the ecological value of NSW Rivers
The High Ecological Values Aquatic Ecosystems (HEVAE) framework identifies surface and groundwater systems with high conservation values.
