Draft replacement of the Bellinger River Area Unregulated and Alluvial Water Sources Water Sharing Plan - closed
Public exhibition of the draft replacement water sharing plan for the Bellinger River Area Unregulated and Alluvial Water Sources and supporting documentation is now closed. All submissions are currently being reviewed by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and will be considered when finalising the plan
The water sharing plan establishes rules for water management including the limit of the total volume of water that can be extracted from the water sources in the Bellinger River area.
Water sharing plans are subject to review every 10 years under the Water Management Act 2000.
The replacement plan includes a number of changes to the current plan as recommended by the Natural Resources Commission. Changes are also proposed as a result of updated flow data and increasing consideration of sensitive environmental areas, water sources with high instream values and community requirements.
The finalised replacement plan is proposed to take effect from 1 July 2020.
Submissions closed on Saturday 28 March 2020. All submissions are being reviewed by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.
