Draft NSW Murray and Lower Darling Surface Water Resource Plan

This water resource plan has built on existing water planning arrangements such as the statutory water sharing plans. The plan consists of the main body WRP (Chapters 1 to 8), accompanying Schedules (A to J) and Appendices (A to D). You can read them by clicking on the links below.

Schedule B: Water Resource Plan Index—appears in WRP

Identifies the person responsible for implementation measures associated with each requirement in Chapter 10 of the Basin Plan.

Schedule C: Consultation Information

Report on the consultation undertaken in the NSW Murray and Lower Darling water resource plan area as part of the Water Resource Plan process, including the Aboriginal Nation consultation. Not all Nation consultation in the NSW Murray and Lower Darling WRP area is finished.

Schedule D: Risk Assessment information

The NSW Murray and Lower Darling Risk Assessment has been prepared as a component of the Water Resource Plan and identifies potential and emerging risks to water resources.

Schedule E: Planning for Environmental Water—appears in WRP

Outlines how the objectives in the Water Resource Plan are aligned with objectives in the Long-term watering plan (LTWP) and Basin wide environmental watering strategy. Also identifies water management actions and mechanisms that provide for environmental watering.

Schedule F: Water for consumptive use information—appears in WRP

An overview of water for consumptive use in the NSW Murray and Lower Darling WRP area.

Schedule G: Incident Response Guide

The Incident Response Guide for the NSW Murray and Lower Darling Water Resource Plan Area (SW8) has been prepared as a component of the Water Resource Plan. It outlines the approach to managing water during extreme water shortage or water quality events.

Schedule H: Water Quality Management Plan

The Water Quality Management Plan for the NSW Murray and Lower Darling (SW8) has been prepared as a component of the Water Resource Plan. It identifies risks to water quality and potential strategies to manage these.

List of resources used to develop the Water Resource Plan.

Schedule J: NSW Murray and Lower Darling Surface Water Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation Plan

The Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation Plan for the NSW Murray and Lower Darling has been prepared as a component of the Water Resource Plan. Its implementation will be key to evaluating the effectiveness of the Plan and informing any future changes.

Appendix A: NSW Murray and Lower Darling Surface Water Resource Plan Area Description

The water resource description provides a comprehensive overview of the NSW Murray and Lower Darling water resource plan area.

Appendix B:

The New South Wales Department of Planning, Industry and Environment-Environment, Energy and Science is also exhibiting the draft NSW Murray and Lower Darling Long-Term Watering Plan (LTWP) to allow stakeholder feedback. The NSW Murray and Lower Darling LTWP is part of the NSW Murray and Lower Darling Surface Water Resource Plan package. It has been developed to inform and guide water management and environmental water delivery. You can view the Draft NSW Murray and Lower Darling Long Term Water Plan and provide feedback.

Appendix C: No net reduction in the protection of PEW Report

A report on how the changes in the water sharing plan (WSP) do not reduce the protection of planned environmental water (PEW).

Appendix D: Prerequisite Policy Measures: Procedures Manual for the NSW Murray & Lower Darling Regulated Rivers

The objective of this Manual is to sufficiently codify the operational process of delivering PPMs in the NSW Murray and Lower Darling regulated river water sources to achieve an appropriate balance between providing protection for other water licence holders, and allowing for the efficient and effective use of environmental water licences to achieve the environmental outcomes envisaged under the Basin Plan.
