Far North Coast Regional Water Strategy

The draft Far North Coast Regional Water Strategy was on public exhibition from 30 October until 13 December 2020.

All submissions are currently being reviewed and feedback on the strategy overall including the long list of options presented is informing the options assessment process and finalisation of strategy documents.

Further community engagement will be undertaken following the review and assessment of all feedback.

A summary of feedback received and a copy of respondent submissions (for those respondents that have provided permission) is planned to be published in May 2021.

Thank you to those who have made a submission.

Please email the Regional Water Strategies Team regionalwater.strategies@dpie.nsw.gov.au if you would like further details about the development of this strategy.

Overview

The NSW Government is preparing regional water strategies that will bring together the best and latest climate evidence with a wide range of tools and solutions to manage the water needs of NSW over the next 20 to 40 years.

A long-term Regional Water Strategy is being developed to guide how the NSW Government can best manage the challenges that are facing the Far North Coast region. The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment is identifying actions that can address these challenges to support a liveable and prosperous Far North Coast region.

We have been working with local water utilities, councils and Aboriginal community members to ensure local knowledge informs the draft Far North Coast Regional Water Strategy. We will continue to work with First Nations people and the wider community to incorporate traditional knowledge and local aspirations in the final regional water strategy.

Feedback on the draft Strategy was sought from 30 October to 13 December 2020. A snapshot JPG, 790.79 KB of the key statistics for the Far North Coast region is also available.
