Macquarie-Castlereagh Regional Water Strategy
The Macquarie region covers the Macquarie, Bogan and Castlereagh catchments in Central West NSW and forms part of the NSW Murray Darling Basin.
The major risks to future water supply in the Macquarie region is low drought security for town water and irrigation, but there are also opportunities for improved delivery efficiency.
The regional water strategy for the Macquarie, to be completed in 2021, will consider the region’s drought security, the increasing water needs of some towns and agricultural industries, and protection of valuable environmental assets such as the Macquarie Marshes.
