Lachlan Regional Water Strategy
The Lachlan region is located in central NSW, west of the Great Dividing Range, and includes the major regional town centres of Cowra, Parkes, Forbes and Young.
The Lachlan is characterised by periods of drought and flood. It has a low level of drought security and there is a need to better understand flood risk. The Lachlan is a priority regulated river catchment for critical water infrastructure and improved water management.
The regional water strategy for the Lachlan, to be completed in 2021, will consider all regulated, and unregulated and groundwater sources in the Lachlan region.
