Primary metering equipment - storage sensors for floodplain harvesting
A storage sensor measures the water depth within a storage (dam). Using the storage level and the corresponding storage curve, a storage volume is calculated. Storage sensors that are integrated with a local intelligence device (LID)—a data logger and telemetry unit—are referred to as a storage meter.
A storage meter that meets the Minister’s specifications and standards must be installed on all floodplain harvesting storages—that is, all storages listed on the water supply work approval for floodplain harvesting—where a landholder has opted for the storage measurement method to fulfil their primary metering equipment requirements.
Storage meters must comply with Minister’s specifications and standards.
