Clean water and sanitation

$200 million investment to improve water and sanitation services in Aboriginal communities
The Department of Planning and Environment, and the NSW Aboriginal Land Council partnered to improve and maintain water and sewerage services in over 60 Aboriginal communities across New South Wales. As part of the Aboriginal Water and Sewerage Program they’ll invest $200 million over 25 years to maintain, monitor, repair and upgrade water and sewage infrastructure in these communities.
The program helps raise the quality of state-wide services in Aboriginal communities so that they are comparable to mainstream communities. Since the start of the program in 2008, the water and sewerage services have been improved for over 6,000 people living in Aboriginal communities. It also provides training, apprenticeships and employment to local Aboriginal people.
