Seeking Applications for Independent Chairperson
The NSW Government is seeking applications for an independent Chairperson of the Snowy Advisory Committee (SAC).
SAC provides vital community and expert input and advice to the design of the timing and pattern of the release of environmental flows to the Snowy River and Snowy Montane rivers (including the upper Murrumbidgee River) to ensure their ongoing health.
We are seeking nominations from people with experience, knowledge and skills in leading and chairing committees, that can be applied to our purpose of managing water for environmental and ancillary values. Nominees should be capable of leading a committee of representatives of environmental, scientific, Aboriginal and local community interests. They should have the relevant communication skills to represent the Committee and its work.
Candidates will need to demonstrate a commitment to high ethical standards and teamwork, and possess sound judgement, objectivity and well-developed skills in critical and analytical thinking. They should demonstrate leadership experience, and the ability to summarise complex information and arguments and provide advice in a professional manner.
General knowledge of NSW and Snowy Scheme water management framework and the Snowy River are desirable.
Appointment to the position of Chair of the SAC will be for up to two years. The Chair will be remunerated and reimbursed eligible expenses in accordance with Public Service Commission guidelines.
