About us

The Office of Racing is part of the Department of Industry and is responsible for racing policy and governance, including management of relationships with the industry's controlling bodies.

The Office of Racing has an important role in providing racing policy advice to the Minister, particularly in relation to the governance of these industry sectors.

We are committed to supporting the growth and economic viability of responsible, sustainable and compliant racing in NSW.

Racing makes a significant contribution to the New South Wales economy. In mid-2014, the NSW Government commissioned a study, conducted by IER Pty Ltd, into the size and scope of the racing industry in New South Wales. Read the report Size and scope of the NSW racing industry.
