NSW Startups learn Silicon Valley investment success strategies

Top international investor Edith Yeung will visit Sydney and Bathurst later this month to share her knowledge with local entrepreneurs on how to prepare themselves to be investment ready.

Ms Yeung is a Partner at Silicon Valley venture capital firm 500 Startups which has invested in over 2,000 companies including mobile, artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain startups.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Small Business John Barilaro said the two fireside chats are among the many highlights of the Spark Festival being held across NSW from 19 October to 4 November.

“The Spark Festival, supported by Jobs for NSW, is Australia’s largest event for startups, innovators and entrepreneurs with over 120 events statewide to showcase the sector and provide many business learning opportunities,” Mr Barilaro said.

“Edith Yeung’s visit will be among the highlights as she shares information and answers questions on what makes a good investor pitch and what she looks for in companies, giving our local startups an edge when seeking financial backing.”

Edith Yeung’s investments include companies like Silk Labs which was acquired by Apple, Fleksy which was acquired by Pinterest, Human which was acquired by Mapbox, and many more.

Ms Yeung also ran marketing for Dolphin Browser, a mobile browser backed by US venture capital firm Sequoia with over 150 million installs worldwide, and has worked with many Fortune 500 companies such as Siebel, Oracle, AMS, AT&T Wireless and Autodesk.
