Department issues landowner's consent for planning assessment of Collaroy seawall

Media release | 13 April 2018

The NSW Department of Industry – Lands and Water has announced that Landowner’s Consent for the consideration of a seawall at Collaroy Beach has been issued.

Residents impacted by the 2016 storms have submitted a Development Application to Northern Beaches Council for a seawall to protect their properties from future coastal erosion.

The proposed seawall would be part located on Crown land, so Landowner’s Consent is required before the DA can be considered.

The Department has undertaken a thorough appraisal of the proposed protection works to allow for a full planning assessment.

Issuing Landowner’s Consent is only a first step in the planning assessment of the proposed seawall.

Now that the appropriate consent has been issued, the DA for the seawall can be properly assessed by the Council in accordance with planning regulations.
