Media release | 6 April 2017
The NSW Government will promote the state’s defence industry capabilities and companies as part of the annual G’Day USA program in the United States’ capital tomorrow.
The US-Australia Dialogue on Defence Industries is being held in Washington DC as part of G’Day USA and includes attendance by NSW companies.
“Under the NSW Government’s Defence and Industry Strategy, we’re growing our defence and aerospace industries to promote jobs, investment and innovation,” NSW Minister for Industry Niall Blair said.
“This includes targeting overseas opportunities for NSW companies to win more work in defence markets like the United States.
“This event will be a prime opportunity to promote the NSW defence industry to the United States.”
G’Day USA is the key annual program of events to promote Australian capabilities in the United States bringing together industry leaders and key influencers across government, business, tourism, academia and the arts.
As part of the program, the US-Australia Dialogue on Defence Industries will bring together defence industry experts to explore future projects, mutual investment, and industry cooperation. It will attract leading companies, policy makers, academics, investors, economists and security experts.
NSW companies represented at the Dialogue include Thales Australia, Thomas Global Systems, Varley Group, BecTech Inc, Jacobs Aerospace & Technology, Integra Packaging and Dexata.
CEO of Thomas Global Systems, Angus Hutchinson, will lead a session on developing partnerships between defence and industry in global supply chains.
Separately, NSW Defence Advocate Air Marshal (Retd) John Harvey will lead a Team Defence Australia (TDA) delegation to promote the export of Australian defence industry products and services.
G'Day USA is organised by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and supported by NSW Government agencies including the Department of Industry and Destination NSW.
