Media release | 1 June 2017
NSW Trade and Industry Minister Niall Blair has announced applications have opened for the 2017 NSW Premier’s Export Awards.
Mr Blair said NSW companies engaged in international business are encouraged to apply for this year’s awards, organised in partnership with the Export Council of Australia.
“The NSW export sector is globally renowned for the quality and diversity of its product and service offering.
“NSW’s position as Australia’s strongest economy is due in great part to the success of our thriving export sector.
“An estimated 15,000 businesses put our State on the map globally everyday with the high quality goods and services for which NSW is renowned.
“In 2016 total NSW exports were valued at $68.5 billion so it’s clear the export community is pivotal to our economy’s success. For that reason it’s important we come together and celebrate the success local NSW businesses are having offshore”.
This year’s awards features 12 national categories and seven NSW specific awards including for the first time ever a NSW Defence Industry award.
CEO of the Export Council of Australia, Lisa McAuley says as one of Australia’s leading export recognition programs it’s great to be contributing to NSW’s economic future.
“The NSW Export Awards are about rewarding businesses that have shown a commitment and determination to grow their global business and who, against adversity, seek new innovative ways to compete on the international stage,” Ms McAuley said.
Applications will officially close on 14 August 2017 with finalists to be notified in September. Winners will be announced at an awards presentation dinner on 25 October 2017 at the Star in Sydney.
Winners in the National Award categories will go on to represent the State at the Australian Export Awards National Ceremony on 5 December.
