COVID-19 Rental Assistance
On the 24 April 2020, the NSW Government gave effect to the National Cabinet Mandatory Code of Conduct - SME Commercial Leasing Principles During COVID-19. The code sets out good-faith leasing principles for commercial tenancies, where the tenant is an eligible business for the purpose of the Australian Government’s JobKeeper programme. The code came into effect in NSW with the start of the Retail and Other Commercial Leases (COVID-19) Regulation 2020.
The Retail and Other Commercial Lease (COVID-19) Regulation [NSW] has been extended from 30 September 2020 until 31 December 2020.
Please note: all existing applicants are required to re-establish their eligibility in line with their JobKeeper extension evidence if applying for rental relief until 31 December 2020.
If you are not eligible for rent relief under the National Cabinet Mandatory Code of Conduct - SME Commercial Leasing Principles During COVID-19, provisions for Financial Assistance may still be available under the Crown Land Financial Concessions Policy (IND-0-254).
