100% Western Sydney made
VITAMAN launched in late 1999 when its director and founder, Clare Matthews saw a business opportunity in the growing trend for men’s grooming products. Now in its 16th year, VITAMAN is exported to the Middle East, China, Europe and the USA.
“We launched first as an online site after extensive research into natural ingredients using indigenous plants. We were the first men’s grooming e-commerce site in Australia to sell directly to consumers,” said Clare. “One of our unique selling points is using the therapeutic properties of naturally-derived native botanicals found only in Australia and proudly made in Sydney.”
Those ingredients, through VITAMAN’S main supplier, are independently tested by Southern Cross University in NSW. VITAMAN’S export sales have soared as a result of its emphasis on 100% all-Australian products.
VITAMAN’s head office is based in Fairfield and its new, purpose-built factory has recently commenced production in Punchbowl. “Five full-time staff work with us and we use a range of external consultants to assist with social media and marketing. We plan to expand local job and internship opportunities. We’re currently training salons in the use of our spa treatments.”
VITAMAN products are primarily distributed in spas and salons and its largest export market is the Middle East. The company also exports to Europe and China. A committed push into the Chinese market saw the brand launch its dedicated Chinese-language online site in China in late 2015.
Advantage of a Western Sydney location
“Our staff all live in Western Sydney or the Inner West and now they work here too. Moving out of the inner city has made it possible to have a true work-life balance.” Clare Matthews, VITAMAN
VITAMAN’s planned business growth includes establishing a global online portal; greater investment into its Chinese online site; the appointment of a US-based sales and marketing manager; and the launch of a new, premium range for the Australian market that will be sold in department and concept stores. The brand also recently unveiled Australian football hero Tim Cahill – who grew up in Western Sydney – as its Ambassador, who said: “partnering with VITAMAN in this capacity is a way for me to get involved with a brand that I truly believe in.”
