Food production the traditional way
Established in 2004, Elegre manufactures a high quality locally produced range of antipasto and cooking wines. From its humble beginnings as a family run operation, Elegre has expanded to provide three brands, catering to both retail and wholesale markets.
Elegre specialises in handmade artisan food products, offering its customers three brands – Elegre, Ecofarmers and Vega Estate Wines. The company exports to South East Asia and The South Pacific, with plans to expand into the Middle East.
Alex Vega, Elegre’s Founder explains: “Our brand caters directly to the food service sector including cafes, pubs, clubs and cruise ships. Ecofarmers is our retail brand and is stocked in small to medium supermarkets, while Vega Estate Wines supplies cooking and drinking wine directly to food manufacturers.
“All three brands reflect the company’s commitment to quality produce selection and delivering authentic food and wine.”
“In the last year, we have streamlined our operations by combining the three brands, which previously operated as separate entities, into one. This restructure has laid the foundations for us to continue to expand while maintaining our point of difference – which is to provide products to a niche market using traditional food production methods.”
Advantage of a Western Sydney location
“We recognised the potential of the Western Sydney area as an emerging manufacturing food hub and its connectivity to roads including the M1, M2, M4 and M7 which assists our distribution arm.” Alex Vega, Elegre
“We started off as a small family-run operation. As it expanded, we moved location several times occupying sites in Regents Park, Chester Hill and Five Dock. Finally, in 2014 we moved to a purpose built facility in Pendle Hill allowing us to centralise our operations.”
“With 22 full time staff and a growing business, we are looking at developing an internship program, which would provide high school and TAFE students with work experience opportunities.”
