Ambassador for NSW creative industries
The ambassador for the NSW creative industries is awarded each year to the winner of the NSW Creative Laureate as part of the NSW Creative Achievement Awards. The prestigious role of ambassador involves inspiring and supporting creative talent in NSW and helping promote NSW as a globally attractive creative centre.
Saatchi & Saatchi's ambassadorship
As a recipient of the 2015 NSW Creative Laureate, Saatchi & Saatchi took on the role of Ambassador for NSW creative industries.
During its ambassadorship, Saatchi & Saatchi assisted the NSW Government in launching the inaugural Start Up Week by naming and creating the brand identity for the “Accelerator” event at NSW Parliament House. The Accelerator event was designed to kick-off Start Up Week and showcase successful start-up entrepreneurs, and to provide inspiration to and connection with both corporate and NSW Government leaders and decision makers on current innovative offerings. The event helped raise awareness of the NSW Knowledge Hubs as a catalyst in supporting industry-led innovation and culture change. Saatchi & Saatchi’s CEO Michael Rebelo, a key speaker at the event, highlighted the importance of fostering creativity to the NSW economy.
Saatchi & Saatchi also facilitated branding workshops with the Hatchery and Hatchery + at UTS University. The sessions were run by Kate Smither, Chief Strategy Officer of Saatchi & Saatchi and assisted both students and startup businesses in understanding the importance of branding and coached them in defining their own unique brand positioning and how to pitch their ideas to prospective investors and businesses.
Following the branding workshop, the Hatchery + startup businesses were invited to Saatchi & Saatchi to receive one-on-one advice on their individual business pitches from the Saatchi & Saatchi executive leadership team. Each start up practiced their pitches, using the techniques taught at the workshops, and received advice on how to improve their pitch ahead of their real pitches to investors due to take place in June. Saatchi & Saatchi will continue to promote and support the Hatchery and Hatchery + in preparing the next generation of creative entrepreneurs to get started in business.
In the past 12 months Saatchi & Saatchi has continued to be recognised for its creativity across the world. In addition to being awarded ‘most effective agency in Australia’ at the 2015 Effies, the agency also received international recognition, creating the ‘world’s most effective campaign’, as determined by WARC 100. Just last month, Saatchi & Saatchi launched its world-first LandCruiser Emergency Network innovation, which is now drawing attention on a global scale. In partnership with Flinders University, Saatchi & Saatchi pioneered a new device that can be fitted in Toyota LandCruisers, enabling them to create a pop-up emergency network that will bring communications to the most remote parts of the Outback.
Saatchi & Saatchi is passionate about solving problems with innovative world-changing creative ideas. As its ambassadorship comes to a close, the agency remains committed to driving NSW as a globally recognised creative centre, fostering the next generation of talent and continuing to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation themselves.
