Silicon Valley investment network connects with NSW
25 February 2013
Sydney is set to host the first-ever AlwaysOn Australia, an international conference that brings together innovators, investors and influencers.
AlwaysOn (AO) is a Silicon Valley-based investment and networking community that helps innovative companies in mobile, digital, social, cleantech and ad technology sectors accelerate the pace at which they connect with investors, partners and customers and achieve global growth.
AlwaysOn Australia is the only international event outside the US in the network’s nine-event series this year. NSW is the official host State for the conference.
NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner said he was pleased that AlwaysOn had chosen Sydney for its first conference in Australia.
"This is a great opportunity to showcase NSW’s innovative technology, companies and people to visiting American business leaders, investors and potential partners and to make connections that can grow trade and investment with the USA, one of our priority markets," Mr Stoner said.
"The conference will encourage collaboration between US and Australian innovators as well as domestically, between corporates, start ups, investors and government.
"This aligns with our recently announced initiative Innovate NSW which aims to drive collaboration between SMEs, researchers, major corporations and end-users to develop leading edge products and services in our priority sectors."
AO founder Tony Perkins said the network was interested in doing business with Australia’s technology community: "With Australian companies like Atlassian, Freelancer.com and 99designs making major ripples in the global startup community, it’s obvious that Australia is still an underutilised space for global startup investment."
Speakers at AlwaysOn Australia include Bill Bartee, Partner, Southern Cross Ventures; Don Basile, CEO, Violin Memory; Scott Farquhar, Co-Founder and CEO, Atlassian; Patrick Llewellyn, CEO, 99designs; Matthew Koertge, Managing Director, Telstra Applications & Ventures Group; Natasha Rawlings, Chief Executive, Street Hawk; Phil Morle, Co-CEO, Pollenizer; Kim Heras, Co-Founder, PushStart; and Niki Scevak, Managing Director, Blackbird Ventures.
The conference will be held at Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf, Pyrmont, Sydney on 11-12 April. For more information or to purchase tickets visit the AlwaysOn Australia 2013 website.
