NSW launch of international complex project management report
25 November 2011
NSW Trade & Investment has helped launch an international report to help improve the management of complex projects.
The report, Complex Project Management: Global Perspectives and the Strategic Agenda to 2025, aims to help both industry and government deliver more successful projects into the future.
The report was an initiative of the International Centre for Complex Project Management and Global Access Partners.
It brought together an international taskforce to study the improved delivery of complex projects.
The report emphasises that traditional project management approaches, tools and techniques will not be adequate for managing the increasing complexity and ambiguity of our rapidly changing business environments.
Complex projects of tomorrow will demand strong leadership, innovative approaches, and tenacity to deliver as well as enhanced skills and greater collaboration across sectors, governments and industries.
A core recommendation of the report was the establishment of the Complex Project Management Knowledge Development and Dissemination Centre (KD2) based in Canberra, which will become the peak organisation for taking the recommendations of the report forward.
