23 August 2011
Specialist electronics company Thomas Electronics has officially opened a new operating facility at Regents Park in Western Sydney, which will support future growth and the creation of up to 75 jobs over the next five years.
Thomas Electronics, an Australian company founded in 1956, is a world class provider of services ranging from cockpit display systems for commercial aircraft and the defence industry to business and consumer electronics.
The NSW Department of Trade and Investment has worked to help secure the company's expansion in Western Sydney.
This investment in the State's defence and ICT services sectors will enable Thomas Electronics to compete on an even stronger footing in global defence and civilian markets.
Thomas Electronics is gearing up for significant growth in defence and commercial aerospace-related business over the next five years, and expects to create an extra 75 jobs over that period.
The new 5,500 square metre facility has been purpose-built to meet the future needs of this impressive Western Sydney company.
It includes a fully-equipped engineering laboratory; design, R&D and prototyping facilities; an assembly and system integration workshop; clean rooms; and secure warehousing.
This expansion includes the creation of a Display Technology Centre of Excellence which aims to make Thomas Electronics a leader in the field of electronic display systems in the Asia Pacific.
The first of its type in Australia, the Display Technology Centre of Excellence will support research and development activities, through-life support of avionics equipment, and future defence-related programs.
As well as Western Sydney, Thomas Electronics has representatives in the United Kingdom, United States, Japan and Singapore to help service its global customer base and target international work.
