$10 million challenge to back new youth unemployment solutions

The NSW Government has launched a new $10 million fund to help more young people aged between 15-24 get into work or training.

The new Youth Employment Innovation Challenge will provide both financial and professional mentoring support, through the government’s Innovation Launch program, to help develop new ideas to help get our young people into work.

A $10 million fund will be used to back innovative solutions and ideas to support young people to find jobs in areas of high youth unemployment including in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands, Western Sydney, the Central Coast and Hunter, New England/North West, and the North Coast.

Funds will support new ideas or grow existing programs that are working well in local communities and which can be scaled up or used in other areas.

Applications for the Challenge are open from 9 March 2018 until 10 April 2018 with shortlisted applicants to be coached on ideas ahead of a shark tank style pitch event in Sydney on 10 May 2018.

Finalists will be selected to take part in an incubation program where they will be assisted to develop their ideas and business models.
