Visitor Economy Industry Action Plan
In 2012, the NSW Government established the Visitor Economy Industry Action Plan (VEIAP) and set the ambitious target to double overnight visitor expenditure to $36.6 billion by 2020.
In September 2017, the NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events launched a mid-term review of the 2012 VEIAP, to be undertaken by the Visitor Economy Taskforce (the Taskforce).
The Taskforce will identify progress to date under the inaugural VEIAP and priorities beyond 2020 to ensure the ongoing and long-term success of the tourism industry.

Thank you to all stakeholders who provided feedback to the Taskforce on the mid-term review, either online, by written submission or during the consultation sessions. Your feedback demonstrated the passion, knowledge and strength that underpins NSW’s visitor economy sector.
The Taskforce is considering this feedback and will deliver an independent report to the NSW Government in early 2018 on the visitor economy position to 2020 and beyond.

Visitor accommodation demand and supply
The NSW Government has undertaken visitor accommodation demand and supply studies into the current and forecast situation of visitor accommodation for Greater Sydney, the Hunter and the Northern Rivers regions.
The studies aim to inform industry, investors and government decision-making to support the sustainable growth of the NSW visitor economy.
They contain up-to-date analysis of visitor demand, accommodation supply and industries' economic returns by sub-region and accommodation type.
The studies are an action of the Visitor Economy Industry Action Plan and a priority of the NSW Economic Development Framework.
