NSW Premier Mike Baird has invited organisers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to visit Sydney to meet with the State's 2000 Olympics experts.
Mr Baird met the Governor of Tokyo, Mr Yoichi Masuzoe, during his first official visit to Japan as Premier.
"I am excited the Olympics will be held in Tokyo in 2020 and I expressed to the Governor that the NSW Government would be happy to share knowledge and expertise in planning for a successful Games," Mr Baird said.
"During our meeting I invited Mr Masuzoe to send a delegation from the Tokyo Government to tour Sydney Olympic Park and meet with our Olympic planning and legacy experts."
Mr Baird and Mr Masuzoe agreed that NSW and Tokyo would increase collaboration in the following three areas:
- Olympic Games expertise
- Sustainable cities.
Mr Baird has also visited South Korea, meeting with the Mayor of Seoul Mr Park Won-soon. They renewed their commitment to the NSW-Seoul Sister State Relationship, established in 1991.
The Premier promoted the strengths of the NSW economy, which is currently the top-performing Australian State economy, and highlighted opportunities for business investment as a result of the Korea-Australia Free Trade Agreement.
