NSW sporting events expertise promoted at leading international convention

1 April 2011

The State’s major sporting events expertise will be promoted at the SportAccord International Convention being held in London next week.

The SportAccord Convention brings together more than 1500 of the world’s top sporting officials, businesses and International Olympic Committee members from more than 60 countries to build relationships, share knowledge and discuss current issues.

It also provides businesses in the sports industry the opportunity to access in one location decision makers in sport’s world governing bodies, sporting federations and cities bidding for international sporting events.

Industry & Investment NSW, as a partner in the Australian International Sporting Events Secretariat (AISES), and Austrade are hosting a series of business events to promote Australian expertise in major event planning, management, staging and operations.

AISES and Austrade are hosting three business roundtables that will cover:

  • venue design, planning and legacy
  • games-time operations, and
  • ceremonies, creative and cultural presentations, city and live sites.

NSW companies will discuss lessons from their experience at recent major events and their expertise in delivery of successful outcomes. The roundtables will be attended by delegates from international organisations including the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, the Toronto 2015 Pan/Para Pan Am Games and the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
