NSW mining expertise on show in Latin America

23 April 2014

NSW mining-related companies are visiting Chile this week to win new export business by taking part in a major Latin American mining trade show.

Five NSW companies are taking part in Expomin with support from NSW Trade & Investment. Expomin, which runs from April 21 to 25 in Santiago in Chile, is regarded as one of the world’s most important mining exhibitions and a key industry event for mining in Latin America, making it a significant showcase for these NSW companies.

Organisers expect 80,000 visitors and more than 1600 exhibitors from more 35 countries.

As a result of the mining industry’s long history in NSW, the sector has expertise in the products and services that supply and support the industry.

There are many opportunities in Latin America and South America for the supply of mining equipment, consumables, such as chemicals and explosives, technology and services.

Chile is predicted to invest US$70 billion in mining projects and expansions between 2014 and 2020, while Latin America is predicted to invest US$200 billion.

At Expomin, the companies are being supported by a NSW Trade & Investment Export Adviser who is providing on-the-ground advice and mentoring, identifying potential buyers and organising business introductions and meetings.
