NSW Government has welcomed plans for a new satellite campus for Arena International Aviation College's pilot training school at Kempsey Airport.

The NSW Government has welcomed plans for a new satellite campus for Arena International Aviation College's pilot training school at Kempsey Airport.

The satellite campus is an outcome of a new partnership agreement between Kempsey Shire Council and the Port Macquarie-based Arena International Aviation Pty Ltd for lease of the airport terminal and other facilities.

NSW Trade & Investment has been working closely with Kempsey Shire Council and Arena International Aviation towards this important outcome, which will allow increased capacity for the College.

NSW is very well positioned for this kind of training with the relatively clear skies over the NSW Mid North Coast making for ideal conditions in which to train pilots.

NSW and Australia's other significant competitive advantages include a strong safety record and higher level English-language requirement than the international standard.

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing estimates an additional 192,300 pilots and 215,300 maintenance technicians will be needed in the Asia Pacific region in the next 20 years, and Kempsey will play a role in helping Australia meet this need.

Arena International Aviation is already the preferred training school for Hainan Airlines, China's fourth largest airline company. This expansion of facilities will enable the company to build further on its reputation and attract more business.

The NSW Government is committed to driving economic growth in regional NSW with initiatives including the Regional Industries Investment Fund which, since April 2011, has supported the creation of more than 8,000 full time jobs and helped generate investment of almost $1 billion.
