Exporters should seek recognition

Entries are now open in the 2012 Premier's NSW Export Awards.

This annual program recognises excellence in the export of goods and services by NSW businesses. The awards publicly acknowledge the important contribution of exporters to the economy through job creation and increased prosperity for their communities and the State.

There are about 16,000 exporting business in NSW and in 2010-11, they generated merchandise exports worth $36 billion and service exports valued at $20 billion.

This year the awards have reached a significant milestone – the 50th year of showcasing the international success of NSW exporters.

More than 300 NSW companies have been recognised during those 50 years. Previous winners of the NSW Exporter of the Year Award include Atlassian, Finisar Australia, Cochlear, ResMed and The Wiggles.

The Premier's NSW Export Awards are open to all NSW exporters. Award categories include agribusiness, services, manufacturing, small business and emerging exporter.

The NSW Government, through NSW Trade & Investment, is the major sponsor of the awards and sponsors the Exporter of the Year Award and the Regional Export of the Year Award.

NSW winners of national categories will be announced on October 11 and go on to represent the State at the Australian Export Awards.
