Deputy Premier focuses on key Asian markets
3 December 2012
Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner is visiting Japan, China and Hong Kong this week to build NSW's trade and investment relationships.
"My objective is to promote business opportunities with potential trade and investment partners in these key markets in Asia," Mr Stoner said.
"Asia is a huge market and a major source of capital and talent across a range of sectors, and the NSW Government is engaging with the region to showcase our business and investment opportunities."
Mr Stoner will be joint leader of the Australian Healthcare Industry Mission to Japan, organised by the Australia Japan Business Co-operation Committee.
"The mission is an opportunity to explore business partnership arising from the similarities of the Japanese and Australian healthcare sectors, including ageing populations and rising healthcare costs," Mr Stoner said.
"While in Tokyo, I am meeting senior business leaders from some of Japan's major corporations including Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ, Itochu Corporation and Nomura Securities.
"In Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, I will attend a number of events to promote the new Significant Investor Visa pathway, which will help to attract more business people and investors to our State to drive economic growth in NSW."
