10 December 2014
Some of Sydney and NSW's most innovative and inspirational chefs and producers have represented the State at Tourism Australia's Invite the World to Dinner Marketplace and Gala Dinner.
Held on on November 14th, in Hobart, Tasmania, more than 80 international food and wine writers, critics, columnists, reviewers, celebrity chefs and TV personalities, gathered for the event after a week spent exploring the best of Australia's food and wine experiences.
Thirty-five of the influencers visited more than 90 restaurants, 25 wineries, 30 hotels and epicurean lodges, 40 producers and 20 tourism experiences across Sydney and NSW.
Headline chefs from Sydney
High profile Sydney chefs Peter Gilmore (Quay) and Neil Perry (Rockpool, Rockpool Bar & Grill, Spice Temple) lead the charge as headline chefs at the Gala dinner event celebrating Australia's unique food and wine culture.
Destination NSW CEO Sandra Chipchase said the lineup of NSW talent firmly establishes Sydney and NSW as the home of Australia's most interesting and appealing food and wine destinations.
"There are so many fantastic stories to tell about our food and wine experiences, award winning chefs, producers and produce from right across NSW.
We're delighted that two of the three chefs chosen by Tourism Australia to curate the menu for the Gala Dinner tonight are from Sydney restaurants and proud Sydneysiders," said Ms Chipchase.
