A taste of NSW at major Asian food show
11 May 2011
Visitors to one of Asia's largest food, beverage and hospitality trade shows this week have the chance to sample top quality food and beverages from NSW.
The NSW Office of Trade, Business and Industry is supporting 12 companies to showcase their products at Hofex 2011, from 11-14 May in Hong Kong. Held every two years, Hofex brings together companies and people working in food and beverages, equipment, supplies, services and hospitality technologies from across the region. In 2009, more than 32,000 visitors from 95 countries attended the event.
Visitors to the NSW stand at Hofex have the opportunity to sample a range of NSW produce, from organic meat and cakes to cherry juice and de-alcoholised wine.
Participation in Hofex is an opportunity for these companies to target the growing Asian market and showcase their capabilities to potential buyers and distributors. It also promotes NSW's strength as a producer of a diverse range of fresh and processed foods.
In 2009-10, NSW exports of food and beverages to Asia were valued to $1.9 billion and accounted for 52 per cent all food and beverage exports from NSW.
Food and beverages make up almost 12 per cent of all exports from NSW.
