Feeding business growth

Feasts and functions - potatoes on the fire

Justin Woodward and Ethan Waters run Feasts and Functions, a catering service based in Canyonleigh in the NSW Southern Highlands. Eager to get the know-how to grow, Justin and Ethan approached Business Connect Advisor Scott Inman for advice.

‘I was in the Business Bus in Bowral one afternoon and Justin came over for a chat,’ Scott recalls.

‘Those first few minutes of interaction are really important to build trust and rapport. Once you have that, the business owner is willing to try your suggestions.

I just have to create a view that tomorrow is a better place than today and they have the potential to get there. Justin and Ethan were definitely willing to try.’

Scott helped Justin and Ethan set financial goals, prepared a loan application and found the right online marketing tools for the business.

‘Before we met Scott, we were at a standstill with the business. We had the idea, it was going OK, but not a lot was happening. We needed a definite plan to move forward,’ co-owner Justin said.

‘And the results have been fantastic. We have 10 weddings pre-booked for 2018, we’ve grown exponentially and I’m now full-time in the business.’

Feasts and Functions now caters from Goulburn to Campbelltown and has four casual staff employed. Justin and Ethan currently own two separate businesses and are looking to expand to a third soon.

Scott gave the business owners direction and most importantly provided plans for their future.
