Businesses in Western Sydney have developed valuable skills in securing more commercial and government contacts thanks to a procurement workshop held on 24 October.

Western Sydney Business Connection in partnership with the NSW Department of Industry hosted the ‘Cracking the Supply Chain Workshop’ in Parramatta.

About 45 businesses attended the workshop to gain key knowledge and skills needed to be shortlisted for contracts.

The full-day workshop, which was attended by Member for Parramatta Geoff Lee who spokes at the event, was a valuable opportunity for Western Sydney businesses and will make it easier for them to access both government and commercial contracts.

It covered information on tender development and writing, how to position your products and services, write compelling responses, and perfect your pitch presentations.

Participants also learnt how to get onto a government panel and how to break into new supply chains.

Workshop participants heard from head procurement personnel from some of Australia’s leading contractors as they shared strategic advice on how to crack the supply chain for their major projects.

Successful Western Sydney businesses also shared what strategies they had employed to win major contracts and new business.

The final event in the Winning Business series on 16 November will connect Western Sydney suppliers with some of the region’s largest buyers and major projects.
