A vision for the new Sydney Technology and Innovation Precinct

Sydney Startup Hub cafe

The NSW Government is joining forces with industry and the community to help design a major new technology and innovation precinct in central Sydney.

The precinct will create new jobs, turbocharge the economy, and cement Sydney as the innovation capital of Australia and a world player in technology.

A panel of experts from industry, education and government sectors, headed by Jobs for NSW chair David Thodey, will establish a vision for the precinct. The panel will advise the NSW Government by November 2018 on the vision for the precinct.

About the precinct

The area for the precinct will stretch from Ultimo through Central Station to Redfern Station and Eveleigh Rail Yards, and across to Camperdown. The area was chosen as it is already home to Australia’s largest cluster of start-up companies, major tertiary education and health institutions, and has established transport links.

Have your say

This project is about creating a vision for the establishment of an innovation precinct to facilitate the growth of NSW’s technology and innovation sectors over the next 30 years. To create this vision, we need to understand the needs and capabilities of the industry and the community.

The consultation period closed on Monday 10 September 2018.

Updates on the program will be posted to this website.
