Business Connect helps Central Coast practice
When Central Coast business owner Dr Paulette van Vliet decided to open her practice she had 30 years’ experience in neuro-physiotherapy but none in business.
Dr van Vliet also found herself having to navigate a fast-changing landscape with the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
But after working with the NSW Government funded Business Connect advisor Debbie Carroll during the initial stages of starting her business she was able to successfully build the physiotherapy practice within one year of concept.
“The fantastic knowledge and enthusiastic support from Debbie Carroll through Business Connect gave me the confidence to build my successful physiotherapy practice, Central Coast Neuro Rehab,” Dr van Vliet said.
“Central Coast Neuro Rehab is the first specialist neuro rehab practice on the coast.
“It aims to ‘retrain the brain, and exercise the body’ to maximise people recovery from stroke and other neurological conditions.
“Enrolling in the Business Connect program allows me to check in with Debbie every month or so for motivation and mentoring. I can’t speak highly enough of the service been provided by The Business Centre.”
Central Coast Neuro Rehab has now established a private consulting service, and developed an online presence, marketing materials and logo to promote the new service.
The service, which includes physiotherapy in the practice premises and via home visits, is advertising for an additional staff member to help with a growing number of patients and increasing demand for home visits, which will create more local jobs. Central Coast Neuro Rehab also provides neuro rehab to a physio practice in Maitland.
Ms Carroll said when Dr van Vliet first came to her for business guidance it was obvious she would be a success.
“She tackled every challenge with professionalism and commitment arriving back at every subsequent appointment with a completed list of actions,” Ms Carroll said.
“Paulette’s dedication to her patients is her main focus. Her continued learning in her field of expertise emphasises the scope for growth and continued success enabling the ability to diversify into other areas of need.”
