Diversity and Inclusion
They’re more than just words, but are the hard-and-fast principles guiding how we build our teams, cultivate leaders and create a department where everyone belongs, whether that’s employees or the customers we serve.
Together, we are building an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of our employees and the communities we operate in.
Our focus areas are many and varied and include: women in senior leadership roles, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, including leadership roles, disability inclusion, and more.
Looking ahead to DPIE
Following Machinery of Government changes, the NSW Department of Industry will be merged with a number of other agencies to form a new cluster—the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE).
We look forward to collaborating with the merging agencies in the Diversity and Inclusion space over the coming months.
Disability Inclusion Action Plan
Our Disability Inclusion Action Plan will remain in place ahead of a new DPIE plan to be launched late 2019.
We support the NSW Public Sector principles of cultural diversity, equity and ethical practice, and a healthy, safe and fair workplace. The department's robust equal employment opportunity management plan identifies and removes barriers to the participation and promotion in employment of:
- Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders
- people with a first language other than English
- people with a disability.
