Specialist vet services now closer to home for Illawarra pets
3 June 2011
Pet owners will be able to get specialist care and services for their pets without leaving the Illawarra following the opening of the Fairy Meadow Veterinary Hospital on Sunday 5 June 2011.
An expansion grant from the NSW Government has helped The Wollongong Veterinary Hospital Group to expand its operations at the new practice, providing services not available elsewhere in the Illawarra.
The Department of Trade & Investment, Regional Infrastructure & Services is supporting The Wollongong Veterinary Hospital Group's investment of around $800,000 in relocating to Fairy Meadow and expanding its practice. This investment is expected to create 13 new jobs at the practice.
New services will include in-house chemotherapy, a complete range of in-house diagnostic imaging facilities, and orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery.
These services will enable pet owners in the Illawarra to receive local specialised medical treatment for their pets rather than having to travel to Sutherland or Sydney for the same treatments.
Pet owners in the Sutherland Shire and Shoalhaven will also be able to take advantage of the shorter travel time to travel to Wollongong to engage these services.
An open day will be held at the new Fairy Meadow Veterinary Hospital, located on the Princes Highway near Jardine Street, from midday to 3.00PM on Sunday 5 June. For more information contact Fairy Meadow Veterinary Hospital on 4283 2333.
The Wollongong Veterinary Hospital Group is being assisted through the Illawarra Advantage Fund which encourages regional growth by assisting eligible firms to expand in or relocate to the Illawarra.
