Goulburn planning for a bright future

25 August 2011

NSW Trade and Investment is supporting Goulburn Mulwaree Council's Business Retention and Expansion Survey that will support the long term development of Goulburn’s business community.

The Council expects to begin rolling out this project from September 2011.

This survey will help the Council and local business community to take stock of current business conditions in Goulburn and plan for future development.

The survey will look at future business plans, the availability of skills in the region, and any challenges businesses experience in recruiting staff. It will also identify strengths and gaps in promoting the region as a location for business investment.

By identifying and addressing gaps in infrastructure and the business environment, the business community and Council will be able to make effective plans for future improvements.

The Council expects the project to deliver a comprehensive data profile of the local business community by December 2011.

The results will provide an effective strategic planning tool, helping the Council and business community to take a responsive approach to business needs rather than reacting to challenging situations such as when an industry or business closes.

The data profile will also help the Council to make evidence-based policy decisions that will benefit the whole community.

This kind of information will be an invaluable tool for the Council and guide activities that are designed to promote Goulburn as a location for business investment.
