The Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner met with French Minister for Transport, Monsieur le Ministre Thierry Mariani this morning at a transport conference held to discuss how France and Australia can work together to address Australia's transport needs.

The French Innovation and the Future of Transport in Australia conference brought together industry representatives from the Australian and French transport sectors to share knowledge on science and innovation capacities and explore possible areas for collaboration to address future industry challenges.

The NSW Chief Scientist and Engineer, Professor Mary O'Kane and French Ambassador in Australia Mr Michel Filhol also attended the conference, which was held as part of National Science Week events currently taking place across the country from 13-21 August.

The event was facilitated by the NSW Department of Trade and Investment in collaboration with the French Embassy, Commonwealth Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research and Questacon.
