Equity and diversity
The department values diversity and is committed to equality of opportunity. To guide and support our commitment the department is implementing the following plans:
- Multicultural Plan Progress Report 2015-16 - ensures that all people, including those from different cultural, religious and language backgrounds, have equal access to services
- Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2016-17- removes structural and attitudinal barriers to access and participation for people with disability to create a more inclusive community

We support the NSW Public Sector principles of cultural diversity, equity and ethical practice, and a healthy, safe and fair workplace. The department's robust equal employment opportunity management plan identifies and removes barriers to the participation and promotion in employment of:
- Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders
- people whose first language was not English
- people with a disability
